Apache OpenOffice: Uncontrolled search path element vulnerability in Windows installer

Summary

The Windows installers of Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16 and earlier allow an already manipulated system to run external code with elevated access. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.1.17, which fixes this issue.

Remediation

1. Inventory every Apache Software Foundation Apache OpenOffice deployment, including staging.
2. No fixed version appears in the public sources yet. Check the references below and the vendor directly.
